Mini Split Heat Pump Tune-Ups & Maintenance

To ensure that your mini split heat pump is both reliable and operating at peak efficiency you’ll need to have it maintained properly. Regular tune-ups reduce repair costs over time and help extend equipment life.

Do You Have to Change an Air Filter for Ductless Systems?

Yes. Mini splits may not have ductwork, but they still have air filters. These filters are typically washable mesh and should last for the lifetime of the unit. To clean the filter just remove it, vacuum it or spray it down with water and put it back into the unit. We recommend cleaning your filter quarterly if it’s in use all year long. If it’s only used seasonally and then dormant for portions of the year, cleaning the filter twice a year is sufficient.

Do Ductless ACs Need Annual Service?

A mini split has many of the same components as a conventional HVAC system. So, just as the traditional parts and operations of your standard furnace and AC need maintenance, so do ductless mini split units. The overall concept of the maintenance and what is being checked is relatively similar. You can find the mini split tune up checklist below of more specific items we will be inspecting and/or adjusting as needed.
